ATTENTION ALL RACERS

We are quickly nearing the racing season, and a few races still need an RC. According to the registration rules on the club website, "LCYC members who race are required to serve as race committee or PRO for at least one event every season.”

If you haven’t signed up already (and a big thanks to those who have already done so), you need to do so now. If you do not sign up, a race will be assigned to you, and it will be your duty to find an alternate RC if you are unable to attend your assigned race.

Sign up for a race of your choice by going to our website, logging in, and then choosing an open event from the RC signup block on the front page. Racers have until April 18th, 2018 to register for an RC slot. After that, one will be assigned to you.

Start of Hot Ruddered Bum

Seasonally cool temps, clouds turning to sunshine with 10-15 kts out of the North set the perfect stage for the LCYC racing season finale. 22 boats sailed a course that took them around Juniper, down to Quaker Smith, around the Four Brothers Islands and back to the club. The day was topped off by a great apres race party with Hot Buttered Rum and munchies hosted by Jean Sievert and Ann Clark. Odinn was the Spin Class winner and Patience took the JAM class.

We had 22 boats from the East Coast and Canada sail 6 races over the weekend. For a bigger assortment of pics from our official photographer Gerry Davis, check out the LCYC Facebook page.

Club

LCYC is a member-run yacht club located in a sheltered cove on the southwest shore of Shelburne Bay in Shelburne, Vermont, USA. We offer moorings, activities, and community for our members, most of whom own a sailboat or powerboat. The object of the Club is to promote and encourage boating and sailing on Lake Champlain, while emphasizing racing, cruising, and education, without financial gain. Cruising

Lake Champlain offers some of the best freshwater cruising in North America. The beautiful scenery and charming lakeside destinations make it a great place to explore. LCYC organizes several rendezvous events. Spontaneous cruising events also materialize throughout the season. We have a number of scheduled events planned for the summer season. Cruisers are out and about just about every weekday and weekend throughout the summer.

Lake Champlain Yacht Club has an active junior sailing program, open to all children ages 8-17. We use Optimist prams and Flying Junior dinghies for instruction and racing. Full and half-day sessions are offered for all ability levels over an eight week period each summer. All of our Instructors are US Sailing certified and have extensive experience.
