Membership - interested in joining LCYC?

LCYC welcomes new members! We will be happy to answer any questions about membership or the club in general.
Feel free to contact the LCYC Membership Chair for more info.

To apply, please fill out the membership application and submit the $100 application fee. Once we receive this, we will schedule a phone call to talk about the club. If you know three current club members, please ask them to contact the Membership Chair for a referral. If you do not know any current members, we can arrange a "meet and greet." This is to meet the applicants, provide general information on the club, volunteerism expectations, the club's activities, mooring waitlist, etc., and answer any questions you all may have. Your membership application will then be presented for approval to the LCYC Board of Governors, which meets monthly.

The filled-out Membership application and/or letters from current members can also be sent via email to the LCYC Membership Chair. Note that the $100 check needs to be sent to LCYC at PO Box 411 Shelburne, VT 05482. Your application package is not complete until we have received your check.

Note: if you are unmarried but in a long term relationship and want your partner to be a member of the club, you must fill out the Statement of Domestic Partnership and submit it with your application for membership.

Please be aware that members do most of the work required to operate LCYC, and we rely on active participation to run the club and keep membership affordable. There are two workdays each year, in the spring and fall, in which all members are expected to participate. In addition, all members are expected to be active participants in at least one of the club's committees (Docks, Regatta, Social, House, Grounds, Boats, Junior Sailing, Communications/Website), volunteering as necessary throughout the year in support of the club's activities. When applying, you acknowledge your commitment to meet these expectations.

After Board approval, you have the choice of immediate membership or delay membership and only join the mooring waitlist:

Cruising

Lake Champlain offers some of the best freshwater cruising in North America. The beautiful scenery and charming lakeside destinations make it a great place to explore. LCYC organizes several rendezvous events. Spontaneous cruising events also materialize throughout the season. We have a number of scheduled events planned for the summer season. Cruisers are out and about just about every weekday and weekend throughout the summer.
