Hello, I took this photo today to show you how high the water is at our little Yacht Club...

High water has forced us to postpone the spring installation of the mooring field. The length of the delay is dependent on water levels. Anyone planning on having a boat at the LCYC before May 15th should contact Bob Schumacher 802-238-8099 for an update.

Also anyone boating on the lake should be extremely careful. The high water has put a huge amount of logs and other debris into the lake creating hazards to navigation. The water temperature in extremely cold, so while canoeing, kayaking and boating in some of the flooded areas can be fun, it can also be deadly if you capsize.

Over 75 people attended the The May 19th rules seminar, led by Andy Horton and sponsored by the Lake Champlain Etchells Fleet. Andy, a world-class sailor who also happens to have grown up on Shelburne Bay, took the crowd through a series of situations that come up during starts, with particular attention to rules that apply there. The crowd also enjoyed pizza, beer and Chester’s ice cream, again, compliments of the Etchells fleet. Stay tuned, as there may be a follow up seminar dealing with rules that apply at mark roundings.

For those of you who may have missed the Feb 18 Free Press obituary, Don Rathbone passed away Monday, Feb 15, 2010, at home, surrounded by his family. Visiting hours are listed as Friday, March 5th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ready Funeral Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd, Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 6th, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church in Shelburne.

Lake Champlain offers some of the best freshwater cruising in North America. The beautiful scenery and charming lakeside destinations make it a great place to explore. LCYC organizes several rendezvous events. Spontaneous cruising events also materialize throughout the season. We have a number of scheduled events planned for the summer season.
