LCYC member racers are reminded that service as volunteer race committee is required at least every other year! In volunteering, the member racer agrees to provide three persons to assist the Principal Race Official assigned to manage that race.

Member racers may volunteer for the race of their choice on a first come first served basis up until April 15. After that date member racers will be assigned races beginning first with those members who did not serve as race committee volunteers last season. As there are not sufficient member racers to allow for service only every other season, it is expected that some members who served last year will be asked to repeat this year.

We still have a large number of open race committee spots, so please do your part and sign-up today!

You will need to be logged in to the LCYC website to register for Race Committee duty. Please contact admin (at) lcyc (dot) info if you have trouble logging in.

It may still feel like the middle of winter (again) but the sailing season is right around the corner. To try to do a better job matching up crew looking for boats and boats looking for crew, the Regatta Committee has launched an updated Crew Match page under the Racing section of the LCYC web site. If we achieve our goal no wannabe crew should be left sitting on shore and no boats should be sailing shorthanded. Skippers: If you have crew you only use periodically and are willing to share them with other boats, please consider posting their names and details on this list.

The Community Sailing Center (CSC) is reaching out to our local sailing clubs to solicit adult members who may be interested in becoming full or part-time Sailing Instructors at the CSC. The CSC offers a variety of programs for youth, adult, students, and the visiting sailing and paddling enthusiast. CSC’s diverse programs range from recreational to racing, accommodating every sailor. Our fleet is composed of Open Bics, Hartley 10s, Escapes, 420’s, Lasers, Sonars, Rhodes 19s, and Stand Up Paddleboards.

LCYC is a member-run yacht club located in a sheltered cove on the southwest shore of Shelburne Bay in Shelburne, Vermont, USA. We offer moorings, activities, and community for our members, most of whom own a sailboat or powerboat. The object of the Club is to promote and encourage boating and sailing on Lake Champlain, while emphasizing racing, cruising, and education, without financial gain. Lake Champlain offers some of the best freshwater cruising in North America. The beautiful scenery and charming lakeside destinations make it a great place to explore. LCYC organizes several rendezvous events. Spontaneous cruising events also materialize throughout the season. We have a number of scheduled events planned for the summer season. Cruisers are out and about just about every weekday and weekend throughout the summer.

Lake Champlain Yacht Club has an active junior sailing program, open to all children ages 8-17. We use Optimist prams and Flying Junior dinghies for instruction and racing. Full and half-day sessions are offered for all ability levels over an eight week period each summer. All of our Instructors are US Sailing certified and have extensive experience. We also typically have two race weeks during the summer, the Lake Champlain Champ Chase Regatta and we travel to Lake George for the Cheeseburger Regatta!
