Skippers Meeting:

09:00

Series:

LCYC Billado/Cannon Series

Information:

Primary Race Officer:

John Harris / Larry Robinson (apprentice)

The Tea Kettle is part of LCYC's Cannon/Billado Series.

For the LCYC Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions, Courses, and on-line Race Registration see http://lcyc.info/racing. To be scored you must register and have a current PHRF rating.

The race features a single race, mostly or totally in the broad lake, using LCYC racing marks, government marks, or both. There are over 90 course options, grouped by wind direction; these course options are listed in the race documents in the LCYC website noted above.

There is a skippers’ meeting at the clubhouse the morning of the race. However, the Racing Rules of Sailing prohibit on-shore changes to the Sailing Instructions, so if you cannot make the meeting just look for the race committee boat to view the displayed course number. The RC boat monitors Ch 72 if you have any questions not covered by race documents.

Over the years LCYC had provided a start for the MBBC Coffee Pot Race, an informal race for members returning to their club from winter storage at Shelburne Shipyard. In 1973 the Tea Kettle Race was organized by William Brown III and Chuck Bowen to provide LCYC with a similar event.

The Tea Kettle is the single trophy awarded to the overall winner for this race.. If you contest in the race you will be scored not only in the Tea Kettle Race but in the Cannon/Billado Series as well.

If you would like to come to LCYC before the race, we have a few guest moorings available by reservation; or you could anchor in Sled Runner cove north of the club or off Allen Hill to the south. In either case, please make advance arrangements with the club stewards for a mooring reservation, tie up space for your dinghy, or possible pickup at your anchorage by a club member. During club operating hours (1100 to 2100 weekdays, 0900 to 2100 weekends & holidays) the clubhouse phone number is 802-985-3372 and the stewards monitor Ch 12.

Race Management:

LCYC relies on racers volunteering to serve as PRO or Race Committee. Each racing LCYC boat owner is expected to serve as PRO or Race Committee for a minimum of one race each season. Login to the website to sign up for Race Committee or contact one of the Race Management Group members about becoming a PRO. Please consider committing to a certain race on an ongoing basis. LCYC cruisers and non-member racers are encouraged to volunteer!

Club

LCYC is a member-run yacht club located in a sheltered cove on the southwest shore of Shelburne Bay in Shelburne, Vermont, USA. We offer moorings, activities, and community for our members, most of whom own a sailboat or powerboat. The object of the Club is to promote and encourage boating and sailing on Lake Champlain, while emphasizing racing, cruising, and education, without financial gain. Cruising

Lake Champlain offers some of the best freshwater cruising in North America. The beautiful scenery and charming lakeside destinations make it a great place to explore. LCYC organizes several rendezvous events. Spontaneous cruising events also materialize throughout the season. We have a number of scheduled events planned for the summer season. Cruisers are out and about just about every weekday and weekend throughout the summer.
