Race Date

Hi Jonathan,

The Macdonough has moved around the last couple of years to take advantage of the the full moon. This year the full moon is September 6th. Next year we are going to be racing in the dark.

Help locating a boat/skipper.

We believe we were the only class c spin boat to successfully fly a spinnaker in the recent Macdonough race. Our GPS indicated we achieved a top speed of 12.7 knots on our J24 (Dancing Queen). In any case it was a more than exciting run for us from Valcour to Quaker Reef. Although our attention was focused on winds, sail and waves we did pass a boat that appeared to be taking pictures of our run. We think it had a sail number of 88 but notice there was a 68 in the race. Can anyone help us located the boat. We would be more than grateful to get copies of the pictures and also willing to cover any expense.

Needless to say we will be talking about this race for some time to come.

Many thank.

68 is owned by....

Dale Hyerstay. Boat name is Tumbleweed and is dark blue in color. He lives in Charlotte.
Hope this helps and glad you enjoyed the run....it was a great day to be sailing..

Tumbleweed 2.0

I sail on Tumbleweed, but I don't think we brought a camera. I sure wish we had have! We did have our binoculars out on several occasions; perhaps that is what you saw. We saw 13 knots on our speedo, and some unbelievable numbers on the GPS, but getting 12.7 on a J/24 is awesome! We have a relatively stable hull for downwind in our C&C 99, but it must have been crazy on a J/24 or J/29, dodging wipeouts all the time. This was my favorite race of the year, by far. I can't wait until next year!

Cheers,

Jason
